2018 ACADEMY DANCE
CLASS OPTIONS



 

BABY DANCER (18 months to 2 years of age) | TINY DANCER (2-3 years of age)

BABY DANCER classes are designed for your cute little one that loves to wiggle and groove to the music from a very young age. The children that are 18 months to 2 years of age come into class with their Mum, Dad or guardian to explore the wonderful world of dance.

Class Duration: 30 minutes

Style: Jazz / Ballet Combo
*After a child has participated in approx 2 full term of classes (20 weeks) and has turned 2 years of age. Upon the teachers discretion they will be already to move into our Tiny Dancer classes where they will begin to dance independently.

TINY DANCER classes are for a student that is 2 years old turning 3. This class was created to prepare our Tiniest of Dancers for dance class. The child dances independently without their parent or guardian (where possible) and learns the fundamental classrooms skills like following direction, basics of Jazz and Ballet whilst having fun through creative movement. 

Class Duration: 30 minutes

Style: Jazz / Ballet Combo

*After a child has participated in approx 2 full terms of classes (20 weeks) and has turned 3 years of age. Upon the teachers discretion they will be already to move into our Junior Dancer classes.
PRE PRIMARY DANCER (3-5 years of age)
Where the Magic begins! Our Pre Primary classes have been specially designed with this young developing age in mind. For most, the children are dancing for fun and this is exactly what these classes are about. In the early stages of dance we don't want overwhelm our students with extra commitment. Our teachers are trained to work at the pace of the students, meeting their needs and capabilities in experience.  

Class Duration: 30 minutes 

Styles: Jazz, Ballet, Tap & Acrobatics

*Our Pre Primary classes have an Intermediate or Senior class buddy that assists not only the teacher but the students with their growth and development. All students go into their Pre Primary classes independently without their parent or guardian.
JUNIOR DANCER (6-9 years of age)

Let's get ready to Shine! Our Junior Classes is where we really start to see our students evolve. This age group would have to be where we see a lot of growth. The children mature and understand what dance means to them. From Grade 1 students are encouraged to participate in Nationally Accredited Exams throughout the year, these however are not compulsory.   

*Junior Dance classes are suitable for beginners.

Class duration: 30-45 minutes

Styles: Jazz, Ballet & Tap

Internal Extension Class Styles: Acrobatics, Musical Theatre, Contemporary / Lyrical & Commercial St 

*These are appropriate for students as an addition to weekly classes

Our classes are divided into Recreational Dance or Exam & Technique.

Recreational Dance - Designed for those students that want to dance 'Just for Fun'. In these classes students will learn the fundamental dance skills and a class routine. RD classes are perfect for beginners. 

Exam & Technique - These classes are technique focused and the exam syllabi is taught. Students participating in Exams throughout the year are required to attend 2 classes per week in that specific style (1 x E&T Class, 1 x RD Class).  

*Recreational Dance Students are not excluded from these classes, they can participate and are not required to sit for the exam* 

 

INTERMEDIATE DANCER (10-12 years of age)

Inspiring the future generation! Our Intermediate Classes 

 

As a child grows in age so does their ability, experience and resilience to extend themselves as young performers. Our intermediate dancers evolve in their knowledge and from this level they build on their passion for dance. Participating in Nationally Accredited Exams throughout the year is encouraged and compulsory from this age.

*Intermediate classes are suitable for beginners but students may be required to start in Junior Classes to ensure they are bought up to date with their knowledge and experience before entering Intermediate classes.

 

Class duration: 30-45 minutes

 

Styles: Jazz, Ballet & Tap

SENIOR & OPEN DANCER (13 years of age and older) 

Pre Professionals in Training! An opportunity pathway for students ready to take their dance to the next level. Senior & Open classes are the perfect educational space for students 13 years and older to develop their skills towards a Pre professional life as a dancer and or teacher. 

At this level our energy is not focused on Competition or Eisteddfods however providing opportunity to our Students to equip them with the tools of trade, skills, talent and real life knowledge experience as a dancer. We prepare them for the world after studio life!

The teachers of this level are sourced from experienced faculties from around Brisbane and the world to offer superior dance education. 

*These classes are not suitable for beginners.  

Class duration: 45-60 minutes

Styles - Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Acrobatics, Musical Theatre, Contemporary / Lyrical & Commercial St

Our Senior & Open Dancers participate in Nationally Accredited exams and have the option to study in house completing their Certificate II in Dance & Certificate III in Assistant Dance Teaching
